Where Are War Thunder Replays and Screenshots on Windows?

War Thunder on Windows stores client replays and in-game screenshots in subfolders of the game install directory.

Last updated

Client replays are written to a Replays folder inside the install root. Steam installs default under steamapps\common\War Thunder, while standalone installs default under WarThunder.

Screenshots taken with the configured in-game key go to a Screenshots folder in the same install root. The key bind is listed under Controls, Common, Interface, Screenshot.

Where War Thunder stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\War Thunder\Replays

Path follows the actual install location. In Steam use Manage plus Browse local files to find it. Standalone default is C:\Program Files (x86)\WarThunder\Replays. Files use replay recording format for in-client playback and expire after major patches. Use Community plus Replays in hangar, then the folder button, to open it.

Windows
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\War Thunder\Screenshots

Official support docs place in-game screenshots in Screenshots under the install directory. Only captures with the in-game function keep full bug report metadata. Xbox Game Bar, Steam F12 and NVIDIA Ansel captures save to their own Pictures or Videos paths.

Frequently asked questions

Why can I not open a replay with a video player?

Replays store match events and inputs, not video. Open them from the hangar Replays list or by loading the file inside the client. To share as video, play the replay and record it with OBS or GPU capture.

Where are server replays?

Server replays are not stored locally. Open the match from Messages in hangar and select View Server Replay, or search the replay portal with Find replays with my participation checked, then copy the link.
