Where Does Heroic Games Launcher Install Games?

Heroic Games Launcher keeps store settings in a config folder and installs games to a Games folder by default. Paths differ slightly on Linux and Windows.

Last updated

Heroic stores login data and per game settings in its config folder. Game files are kept separate so a reinstall of the app does not remove installed titles.

Default install roots can be changed in Settings. The paths below are the defaults seen on fresh installs and remain valid unless the user set a custom folder.

Where Heroic Games Launcher stores this, by platform

Linux
/home/<username>/Games/Heroic

<username> is your Linux login name. Default root for Epic and GOG installs plus sideloaded titles. Each store title gets its own subfolder. Path can differ if changed in Heroic Settings.

Linux
/home/<username>/.config/heroic

<username> is your Linux login name. Holds GamesConfig and heroic.conf plus store data. Back up this folder to keep login tokens and per game options.

Windows
C:\Games\Heroic

Default root on fresh Windows installs. Drive letter follows the folder chosen during first setup. Path can differ if changed in Heroic Settings.

Windows
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\heroic

<username> is your Windows account name. Holds config files and store caches in subfolders such as GamesConfig. Keep a copy before resetting the app.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change the default install folder in Heroic?

Open Settings then General and set a new Default Install Path. The change applies to future installs and does not move titles already on disk.

Will uninstalling Heroic delete my games?

No. Removing the app leaves game folders and the config folder in place. Delete those folders by hand if you want a full cleanup.
