Where Are Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 Saves?

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 splits saves by store. Steam uses userdata and the Microsoft Store build uses an Xbox wgs container.

Last updated

The Steam build stores cloud synced data under Steam userdata for App 1250410. Settings and input profiles also use AppData on some installs.

The Microsoft Store build stores synced data in LocalAppData under the FlightSimulator package SystemAppData wgs folder. That container uses hashed names and is synced by Xbox Cloud. A Microsoft account is required on both builds.

Where Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 stores this, by platform

Windows
<Steam-folder>\userdata\<user-id>\1250410\remote\

<Steam-folder> is your Steam install folder. <user-id> is your numeric Steam ID. Steam Cloud and Xbox Cloud both apply. Keep a copy before you clear the folder to fix installer limits.

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\SystemAppData\wgs\<user-id>\

<user-id> here is the Xbox container ID, not the Steam ID. Subfolders use hashed names. Do not rename files inside wgs. Config files also live under LocalCache and under AppData Microsoft Flight Simulator on some setups.

Frequently asked questions

Why do guides say to delete the remote folder?

A stored bandwidth limit can throttle the installer. Clearing the remote folder resets settings, so copy it first if you want to keep controls and assists.

Can I move Steam saves to the Store build?

No, not by file copy. The Store build reads only its own wgs container linked to your Xbox account. Use the same store version on each PC for manual restores.
