Where Are Final Fantasy XV Saves?
Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition uses two Steam locations based on cloud settings. Cloud saves live in Steam userdata and local saves live in Documents.
Last updated
When Steam Cloud is on, the game reads and writes under Steam userdata for App 637650. When cloud sync is off, it uses Documents My Games in your user profile.
Saves use slot folders named slot plus a number. Config files always use the Documents path, even when cloud saves are on. OneDrive redirection of Documents can move the live folder.
Where Final Fantasy XV stores this, by platform
<Steam-folder>\userdata\<user-id>\637650\remote\
<Steam-folder> is your Steam install folder. <user-id> is your numeric Steam ID. This path is active when Steam Cloud is on, even in offline mode.
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XV\Steam\<user-id>\savestorage\
<user-id> is your numeric Steam ID. This path is active when Steam Cloud is off and it always holds config files. If Documents is moved by OneDrive, use the redirected Documents location. Slot folders must keep matching numbers on restore.
Frequently asked questions
How do I restore a single slot?
Copy only the matching slot folder, such as slot8, over the same slot folder in the active location. Keep the number identical or the slot will not show.
Why do screenshots look old after a restore?
The preview image can stay cached after you replace the slot folder. Load the save and save again in the same slot to refresh the preview.
