Where Does Brave Store Your Profile Data?
Brave profile and bookmarks location on Windows, macOS and Linux, including the Windows User Data level quirk.
Last updated
Brave is Chromium based, so profiles live in Default (or Profile 1, Profile 2) under a Brave-Browser folder. Bookmarks sit in a Bookmarks file with no extension.
Windows nests one level deeper than Mac and Linux: an extra User Data folder. Type brave://version and read Profile path to confirm yours before copying anything.
Where Brave stores this, by platform
%LOCALAPPDATA%\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default
Extra profiles sit next to Default as Profile 1, Profile 2. Beta, Dev and Nightly use Brave-Browser-Beta and similar folder names.
~/Library/Application Support/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default
No User Data level on Mac, unlike Windows. In Finder use Go > Go to Folder.
~/.config/BraveSoftware/Brave-Browser/Default
Same no User Data layout as Mac. Copy the profile only while Brave is fully closed.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find my exact Brave profile path?
Open brave://version and copy the Profile path line. It reflects channel builds and policy overrides.
Can I move my Brave profile to a new PC by copying the folder?
Yes, copying Default (plus Local State one level up for full fidelity) usually works. Sign back into Sync and payment methods after, since those may not transfer.
