Where Does Zoom Save Local Recordings?
The default folder for Zoom's local meeting recordings, and how to change it before or after a call.

When you record a Zoom meeting "to this computer" rather than to the cloud, Zoom saves an MP4 (video) and M4A (audio-only) file into a dedicated Zoom folder inside your Documents. Recordings in progress are converted from a temporary format once the meeting ends, which is why a recording sometimes needs a moment to "finish converting" before the file appears.

Each meeting gets its own dated subfolder. Change the destination under Settings > Recording > Store my recordings at.
~/Documents/Zoom
Same structure as Windows: one subfolder per recorded meeting, changeable in Zoom's Recording settings.
Frequently asked questions
My meeting says "recording is being converted." Where's the file?
It isn't finished yet. Zoom needs to process the raw recording into a playable MP4 after the call ends before it lands in the Zoom folder. Don't force-quit Zoom during this step.
Can I record to the cloud instead of locally?
Only on paid Zoom plans. Cloud recordings show up in the Zoom web portal under Recordings, not in this local folder.
