Where Does ZBrush Store QuickSave Files?

ZBrush writes automatic QuickSave projects to a public ZBrushData folder. Startup configuration and custom UI data live with the install and user data paths.

Last updated

On current Windows releases QuickSave files are kept in Public Documents ZBrushData <version> QuickSave. The <version> segment matches the installed release.

The number of kept files and the save timer are set under Preferences > QuickSave. Configuration, macros, and ZStartup content are kept alongside the install data and should be backed up with QuickSave for full recovery.

Where ZBrush stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Users\Public\Documents\ZBrushData<version>\QuickSave

Default QuickSave store for recent releases. Holds auto saved .ZPR files. <version> matches the installed release such as 2022 or 2023.

Windows
C:\Program Files\Pixologic\ZBrush <version>\ZStartup

Startup configuration, custom menus, and macros. <version> matches the installed release. Check Preferences > QuickSave inside ZBrush to confirm the active QuickSave path if customized.

Frequently asked questions
