Where Does Yakuake Store Settings?

Yakuake yakuakerc, shortcuts and skins on Linux.

Last updated

Yakuake keeps dropdown behavior, shortcuts, skins and window geometry in KDE config files under the home config tree. Sessions themselves belong to Konsole profiles, not Yakuake.

Copy yakuakerc before Plasma upgrades and multi-monitor shuffles. Geometry values from one layout spawn offscreen on the next.

Where Yakuake stores this, by platform

Linux
~/.config/yakuakerc

Main behavior, shortcut and appearance settings. Skins live in ~/.local/share/yakuake with Konsole profiles referenced separately. Edit with Yakuake closed to avoid overwrites.

Frequently asked questions

How do I back up Yakuake hotkeys?

Copy yakuakerc above. Global shortcut registration also needs Plasma shortcut settings for full restores.

Where are Yakuake skins?

In ~/.local/share/yakuake beside the config above. Custom skins travel separately from behavior settings.
