Where Are Windows Recall Snapshots Stored?

Windows Recall CoreAIPlatform snapshot store, controls and deletion notes.

Last updated

Recall snapshots live in a protected CoreAIPlatform store under Local AppData, encrypted per device on Copilot+ PCs. Screenshots, OCR text and the vector index sit together.

Deletion happens in Settings, not Explorer. Touching the store by hand risks the whole Recall database.

Where Windows stores this, by platform

Windows
%LOCALAPPDATA%\CoreAIPlatform.00\UKP

Per-device GUID subfolders with snapshots and index inside; the exact versioned parent name can change with updates. Manage through Settings Privacy Recall: pause, filter apps, or wipe. Requires Copilot+ hardware and Windows Hello enrollment.

Frequently asked questions

How do I delete Recall snapshots?

In Settings Privacy Recall, delete timeframe or all. Manual deletes inside the folder above corrupt the index.

Can other users read my Recall snapshots?

No. The store above encrypts per device and gates on Windows Hello. Other accounts on the PC cannot open it.
