Where Does TIC-80 Store Carts and Saves?

TIC-80 data folders with carts, save data and config on every desktop OS.

Last updated

TIC-80 keeps carts, persistent save data, screenshots and config in per-platform data folders with identical internals. Cartridge files are .tic documents you can trade freely.

Save data persists per cart through the datastore, separate from the carts themselves. Back up both trees and games plus progress survive anything.

Where TIC-80 stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\com.tic80

Holds carts, save datastore, screenshots and config. Folder naming may vary by build, so verify on your install. Copy carts plus the save data with TIC-80 closed.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/com.tic80

Same carts and save layout as Windows. Reach it through Finder Go > Go to Folder.

Linux
~/.local/share/com.tic80

Same tree as the other builds. Some builds use a TIC-80 named folder instead, so check both spellings.
