Where Are Teams Meeting Recordings Saved?

Teams meeting recordings in OneDrive Recordings versus SharePoint for channel meetings, not in app cache.

Last updated

Teams meeting recordings save to cloud storage, never to the local cache folder (separate post). Standard meetings land in the recorder OneDrive under Recordings; channel meetings land in the team SharePoint under Recordings.

The recording link posts in chat after processing. Expiry policies auto delete them, so download keepers instead of bookmarking links.

Where Microsoft Teams stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\OneDrive\Recordings

Synced copy of standard meeting recordings. Channel meeting recordings live in the SharePoint site Files, Recordings instead.

macOS
~/Library/CloudStorage/OneDrive/Recordings

Same OneDrive copy on Mac when synced. Web only users find them in OneDrive online under My files, Recordings.

Frequently asked questions

Why can't I find a Teams recording I did not start?

It saves to the recorder OneDrive, not yours. Ask the organizer to share it, or check the meeting chat link.

Do Teams recordings expire?

Yes under most admin policies (commonly 60 to 120 days). Download the MP4 before the expiry date on the file.
