Spacemacs keeps your entire setup in one .spacemacs file in your home directory: chosen layers, variables and custom keybinds. The framework itself lives in ~/.emacs.d and stays out of version control.
The dotfile is heavily commented and doubles as its own manual. Copy it to a new machine, install the same Emacs, and layers bootstrap on first launch.
