Where Does Serato Store Library and Crates?

Serato _Serato_ folder in Music with database plus Local Serato Library on Windows.

Last updated

Serato splits library data two ways: the _Serato_ folder in Music holds the track database, crates and analysis files, while a Local folder under AppData keeps history, preferences and crate order. Both halves matter for a full move.

External drives get their own _Serato_ folders for tracks stored there. Back up every drive's folder plus the Local tree or crates reference missing files.

Where Serato DJ stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\Music\_Serato_

Holds database V2, crates, smart crates and analysis files. History and preferences live separately at %LOCALAPPDATA%\Serato\Library. Serato auto-backs the database into a Backups folder on launch and exit. Copy both trees with Serato closed, plus _Serato_ folders from every external drive.

Frequently asked questions

How do I move Serato to a new computer?

Copy the _Serato_ folder from Music plus the Local\Serato Library folder, keeping music paths identical. Rescan if drive letters changed.

Where are Serato crates?

As .crate files inside the _Serato_ folder above, with smart crates alongside. They reference tracks by path, so moved music breaks them.
