Where Are Overcooked! 2 Save Files?

Overcooked! 2 stores Steam saves under AppData LocalLow Team17 Overcooked2 in a folder named for your SteamID. Each profile holds Meta and slot save files with a .save extension.

Last updated

On Windows, saves live in AppData LocalLow Team17 Overcooked2 under your user profile. Inside is a numeric SteamID folder that contains Meta_SaveFile.save and CoopSlot or Versus slot files.

Only the host keeps story progress in online play, so clients do not generate usable story saves. Steam Cloud syncs the same SteamID folder, and a mismatched numeric folder can indicate a Cloud sync fault.

Where Overcooked! 2 stores this, by platform

Windows
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\LocalLow\Team17\Overcooked2\<SteamID>

<username> is your Windows account name. <SteamID> is your 17 digit SteamID folder. Meta_SaveFile.save plus CoopSlot and other slot files hold progress. Do not mix SteamID folders without rebinding.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/unity.Team17.Overcooked/<SteamID>

<SteamID> is your 17 digit SteamID folder. Same Meta and slot file layout as Windows. Use Go to Folder in Finder to open the hidden Library path.

Linux
~/.config/unity3d/Team17/Overcooked2

Same Team17 Overcooked2 save layout under the Unity config root. Back up the full Overcooked2 folder before moving saves between installs.

Frequently asked questions

Why did progress reset but chefs stay unlocked?

Chef unlocks and star progress are stored in separate files. If Meta or slot files desync after an update, stars can blank while chefs remain. Restore the SteamID folder from backup with Steam Cloud paused.

Can I give my save to a friend?

Yes. Have your friend close the game, back up their SteamID folder, then copy your Meta and slot .save files into their SteamID folder. They must host the session to retain new progress.
