Where Is the OneDrive Sync Folder?

OneDrive sync folder location on Windows and macOS, including the CloudStorage path newer macOS versions use.

Last updated

OneDrive mirrors a local folder to the cloud. On Windows it defaults to a OneDrive folder in your profile, and Desktop and Documents can be folded into it by the backup feature.

On macOS, newer versions place the sync root under Library CloudStorage instead of home. The OneDrive settings panel shows the live path on both platforms.

Where OneDrive stores this, by platform

Windows
%USERPROFILE%\OneDrive

Desktop, Documents and Pictures may redirect inside here when backup is enabled. The Settings panel shows the exact root if it was moved.

macOS
~/Library/CloudStorage/OneDrive-Personal

Older installs used ~/OneDrive directly. Check the OneDrive preferences for the live location, since it changes with Files On-Demand updates.
