Where Does Nvidia ShadowPlay Save Recordings?
ShadowPlay and GeForce Experience recordings folder on Windows, including the in-game overlay setting that moves it.
Last updated
ShadowPlay saves clips and screenshots to the Videos folder by default. Screenshots land alongside recordings rather than in Pictures, which trips up first-time users.
The overlay settings control the real path. If recordings are missing, that settings field is the first place to look, not the default folder.
Where Nvidia ShadowPlay stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\Videos
MP4 clips and PNG screenshots land here by default. Verify with Alt+Z overlay > Settings > Recordings, since any custom path overrides this. Changing the setting does not move existing files.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check or change the ShadowPlay save folder?
Open the GeForce overlay (Alt+Z), go to Settings (gear) > Recordings, and check the save path. That field is authoritative; the default below applies until changed.
Where are Instant Replay temp files?
Instant Replay buffers to a temp location and only writes a file when you press save. If the buffer drive is full or the feature is off, there is nothing to recover, so set the temp path on a roomy drive.
