Where Does Hydrogen Store Settings and Drumkits?
Hydrogen config files on Linux with drumkits, songs and preferences.
Last updated
Hydrogen keeps preferences in hydrogen.conf under its config folder, with songs as .h2song files and drumkits in a data tree nearby. Patterns and mixer settings travel inside each song.
Custom drumkits download into the user data folder, separate from system kits. Copy config plus data and the whole beat factory moves machines.
Where Hydrogen stores this, by platform
~/.config/hydrogen/hydrogen.conf
Main preferences file. Songs live in your own folders as .h2song, drumkits under ~/.local/share/hydrogen with system kits in /usr/share. Copy config plus the data tree with Hydrogen closed.
Frequently asked questions
Where are Hydrogen songs?
Wherever you saved them as .h2song files. The config above holds only preferences, never compositions.
Where do Hydrogen drumkits go?
Into the drumkits area of the user data tree next to the config above. The drumkit manager installs them there automatically.
