Where Does FL Studio Save Projects and Backups?
FL Studio projects, backups and user data folder inside Image-Line in Documents.
Last updated
FL Studio keeps user data in an Image-Line folder inside Documents. Projects, backups, scores and recorded audio each get a subfolder.
The Backup subfolder is the one that matters after a crash. Timestamped autosaves accumulate there, and they are easy to overlook until needed.
Where FL Studio stores this, by platform
%USERPROFILE%\Documents\Image-Line\FL Studio\Projects
Contains Projects, Backup, Scores and other subfolders. Back up the whole Image-Line folder; plugin DLLs installed elsewhere are not included.
~/Documents/Image-Line/FL Studio/Projects
Same Image-Line layout under Documents. Exact subfolder set may vary slightly by FL Studio version.
Frequently asked questions
FL Studio crashed. Where is the autosave?
Check the Backup subfolder inside the FL Studio user data folder. Autosaves land there with timestamps. Open the newest one and save it under a proper name immediately.
How do I move FL Studio projects to a new computer?
Move the whole Image-Line folder to Documents on the new machine, then reinstall FL Studio and your plugins. Registry-based plugin paths may still need reinstalling rather than copying.
