Where Does Code::Blocks Store Settings?
Code::Blocks default.conf config file on Windows and Linux holding compiler and editor settings.
Last updated
Code::Blocks keeps nearly all settings in a single default.conf XML file in the per-user config folder. Compilers, editor options and plugins register there.
One file means trivial backups. Copy it to a new machine with matching Code::Blocks versions and the setup follows.
Where Code::Blocks stores this, by platform
Windows
%APPDATA%\CodeBlocks\default.conf
Single XML config for compilers, editor and plugins. Close the IDE before editing or replacing.
Linux
~/.config/codeblocks/default.conf
Same filename. Confirm the live path under Settings > Environment when customized.
Frequently asked questions
How do I reset Code::Blocks settings?
Delete (or rename) default.conf with Code::Blocks closed. It regenerates with defaults. Back up first if custom compiler paths matter.
