Where Does Beeper Store Chats and Settings?

Beeper desktop cache, bridge state and settings per OS.

Last updated

Beeper keeps an encrypted local chat cache, bridge connections and settings in per-OS app-data folders, with servers holding the synced copy per account. Local wipes sign you out but never delete cloud history.

Reconnect bridges in-app after restores instead of copying live databases. Bridge tokens expire while chat history re-syncs cleanly.

Where Beeper stores this, by platform

Windows
%APPDATA%\Beeper

Desktop cache with chats, bridges and settings. Quit Beeper fully before copying. Matrix-based history rebuilds from servers after deletion.

macOS
~/Library/Application Support/Beeper

macOS chat-cache mirror. Open through Finder Go to Folder. Same rebuild-from-server behavior.

Linux
~/.config/Beeper

Linux config-tree cache. Bridge state travels with the folder but tokens may need fresh logins.

Frequently asked questions

Does deleting Beeper data delete chats?

No, history lives on Beeper servers per account. Local folders above only cache decrypted copies.

Why must I reconnect chat networks after migrating?

Bridge tokens in the folder above are device-bound. Re-auth each network once on the new machine.
