Where Are Avowed Saves Located?

Avowed follows the Obsidian convention of putting saves in the Windows Saved Games folder, separate from its Unreal engine config. The Steam build can also sync through your linked Xbox account, so one character can travel between PC storefronts.
Config and crash logs sit under LocalAppData in a folder named Alabama, the internal project name. That split surprises people who back up only one location.

Live save files for all characters. Copy the whole folder with the game closed. The Microsoft Store build instead keeps saves in a SystemAppData\wgs container under its package folder, which File Explorer cannot browse directly.

Graphics and input settings live under %LOCALAPPDATA%\Alabama\Saved\Config\Windows. Alabama is the internal project name, so do not go looking for a folder called Avowed there.
Do Avowed Steam saves transfer to Xbox?
Yes, if you sign into your Xbox account from the loading screen. Steam Cloud covers the Steam copy and Xbox Cloud covers the console and Xbox app copies once linked.
