Last updated
Affinity Photo 2 does not store brushes and presets as loose files. Imported brushes, assets, styles and adjustments are packed into .propcol files inside a per user folder.
Project documents (.afphoto) and exported (.afbrushes) files live wherever you save them. Only the internal resource store and app settings use the fixed paths below.
Where Affinity Photo stores this, by platform
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Photo\2.0\user
Default for MSI/EXE install from Serif. Contains raster_brushes.propcol, assets.propcol and other .propcol files. Replace <username> with Windows user name. Same as %AppData%\Affinity\Photo\2.0\user.
C:\Users\<username>\.affinity\Photo\2.0\user
Default for MSIX install (Microsoft Store and current Serif installer). Contains user store plus autosave subfolder. If Roaming path is missing, check this location.
~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Photo 2/user
Default for direct purchase from Serif. Full form is /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Affinity Photo 2/user. Files are not human readable. Mac App Store installs use Containers path noted in FAQ.
Frequently asked questions
Where are Affinity Photo 2 brushes stored?
In raster_brushes.propcol inside the user folder for your install type. To back up, copy the full 2.0 folder. To transfer categories, use Brushes panel menu > Export Brushes to create .afbrushes files.
Where is the Mac App Store version data?
Under ~/Library/Containers/com.seriflabs.affinityphoto2/Data/Library/Application Support/user. Direct Serif version uses ~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Photo 2/user. Renaming or deleting a .propcol file resets that resource to factory defaults on next launch.
